As you build your website on WordPress you’ll notice that your Media Library starts to fill and the more content you have online, the more images, sound files, movies and gifs you’re going to collect. It can be highly appropriate to use the same image, especially a logo, on different pages or blog posts. However you don’t need a new copy every time you go to use it. You just need to point to the image that already exists in your Media Library.
Here’s how to clean up the clutter.
In your Media Library you can find all the media you’ve used on your website. Here you can see that I’ve uploaded three copies of the same photo by mistake.
I only want to keep the image on the right as it has all my SEO and custom descriptions attached.
Click on the image on the left hand side and a dialogue box will appear.
On the right hand side at the bottom is the option to delete permanently.
Press the red link and you’ll see this dialogue box.
Press OK and the image will be deleted out of your Media Library.
Repeat this process for any other duplicate images and you’re done!
Till next time, have a good one!
